Fans of 'Veronica Mars' and supporters of their Kickstarter to fund the upcoming film were treated to quite the presentation at last night's panel at Comic-Con 2013. Creator Rob Thomas presented the ultimate thank you in the form of a new video featuring behind the scenes footage and the very first teaser trailer.

Thomas first presented the five minute video to fans and attendees at Warner Bros.' 'Veronica Mars' panel on Friday night, then sent an e-mail to backers of the Kickstarter later in the evening with the message, "It's been a very long day, so I'll keep this short and sweet. This morning, we showed off the first footage from the movie in Hall H, to a packed crowd. Tomorrow, we'll share it with the press. I wanted you to see it tonight." The video features interviews with the cast, production footage, and fans going nuts for the movie, with it all culminating in a brand new teaser for the film.

Though we know little of the plot, Thomas did offer this explanation at the panel:

I can tell you that it sort of has a 'Godfather III' theme to it. Which is odd, because why not pick 'Godfather II'? It was better. … I can tell you Veronica has not worked as a private detective since the last time you saw her. Part of this movie is her getting back into this life she thought she left behind.

'Veronica Mars' stars Kristen Bell, Tina Majorino, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, Krysten Ritter, and Max Greenfield, and will be released early 2014.
