I was so excited to see this yesterday in the Sunday paper.  Both of my favorite floats make the front page of the local section of the KJ.  Erika, Connor's mom, and I have worked so hard to raise awareness about Chiari Malformation to the public and medical community.  Fellow chiarians have seen our efforts and have come out to join us.

Many people with chiari have felt like nobody understands them or their disease.  So, to be forming this chiari community means a lot to people.  Also, the public has been so open to learning about this condition.  I've even met 2 people who were diagnosed with Chiari Malformation since I started  talking about it.  Chiari, almost always, goes misdiagnosed.  Now, if we could just work on the medical community so that people don't have to travel out of state to get current chiari treatments.

Do you have chiari or just want to help support our cause, our next event Shop to Conquer Chiari is coming up August 27th.  Then our Conquer Chiari Walk Across America walk will be held on September 17th.

If you are business and would like to sponsor the walk, the deadline is July 31st.  Click here for more information about being a sponsor.

I will be headed to NYC in August to find out when I have my next surgery.  This time, I am bringing 2 kids with me because they were recently diagnosed with Chiari Malformation.  It's a journey I wouldn't wish on anybody, especially a child.

Thank you to the Kennebec Journal.  Of ALL the floats in the parade (and there were GREAT ones) they put this one on the front page.  The awareness means the world to us.

And we can't forget....B98.5 was right behind the Conquer Chiari float.
