Country News: Songwriter Mentor Williams Dies
Mentor Williams, an awarded singer-songwriter, has passed away on Wednesday at the age of 70. Williams, the brother of songwriter and actor Paul Williams is best known for writing Dobie Gray’s Top 5, gold-certified 1973 hit ‘Drift Away;’ which was re-recorded by Uncle Kracker in 2003 and became a No. 1 hit, he also penned tunes for Alabama including ‘When We Make Love.’
Miranda Lambert is coming to Thanksgiving as one of the musical acts who will take the stage during CBS’ Thanksgiving Day Parade special. Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS is a three-hour live broadcast that features performances and portions of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. CBS’ Thanksgiving Day Parade special is set to begin at 9AM ET on Thanksgiving Day.
An undisclosed illness forced Willie Nelson to postpone two recent concerts, one scheduled for Sunday night at the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center in Midland, Texas, and another on Tuesday at Lubbock, Texas’ City Bank Auditorium. Reports are the Nelson was ‘feeling under the weather.’
