With the handful of country artists that have emerged from reality television in recent years, there was bound to be a standout country music singer in the batch of hopefuls spotlighted on Monday’s (Sept. 10) ‘The Voice‘ Season 3 premiere. After a rather bold audition with her yodel-infused cover of Patsy Montana’s 1935 country classic ‘I Want to Be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart,’ Illinois native Gracia Harrison had the daunting challenge of choosing between Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine as her superstar coach.

Staying true to her country roots, the young singer chose Shelton — but not before some groveling from the reigning CMA and ACM Male Vocalist of the Year. “I know as a fellow country artist, you can’t fake your way through a song like that,” he admitted, hoping to win her over.

“You already know what the right thing to do is,” the ‘Over’ singer added. “I hate the thought of what would happen to you in the long run if you were influenced by one of these two,” he said, referring to Aguilera and Levine.

As far as a possible lasting career in the country music genre, Shelton seemed rather confident in Harrison’s raw talent, sharing, “Country radio is full of artists who can’t do what you just did.”

Harrison joined fellow hopeful Terry McDermott as the first two singers on Team Blake in Season 3 of ‘The Voice.’ The Blind Auditions will continue with a newly-expanded three-day premiere of the popular television show. Tune in tomorrow night (Sept. 11) and Wednesday (Sept. 12) from 8-9 PM ET to see who else Shelton chooses for his team.
