The world lost a musical icon on Thursday (April 21): Prince was found dead at his home, Paisley Park, outside of Minneapolis, Minn. Following the announcement of his death, numerous artists -- including many country stars -- used social media to share their own tributes and remembrances of the legend.

"Thank you Prince for always reminding me to party like 1999," writes Brett Eldredge, referencing one of Prince's biggest hits, "1999." Maren Morris, meanwhile, shared a simple "RIP" with a photo of a purple-tinted rain-soaked window, a reference to one of Prince's other massive songs, "Purple Rain."

Most artists expressed their shock at losing Prince so young -- he was just 57 years old -- and their sadness over the death of yet another incredible artist. Zac Brown Band called it a "gigantic kick to crotch," while Brad Paisley succinctly summed up many fans' thoughts: "Oh no. No no no. Not another!" Prince was born Prince Rogers Nelson in Minneapolis on June 7, 1958. He released 29 studio albums throughout his career, won seven Grammys and one Oscar and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
