According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Cumberland County is the fastest growing county in Maine. The population grew by .067% or 1,931 people over a one year period.

The growth was recorded between July 1, 2013 and July 1, 2014. Cumberland is the most populous state in Maine with 287,797 residents, followed by York and Penobscot.

Other counties to show some growth: York grew by 1,247 people, Knox by 88 people, Waldo by 76 people and Kennebec by only 56.

There were eight Maine counties that saw their population shrink with Washington Country seeing the biggest decline by 1.2%.
