The CW renewing just about every one of its series for additional seasons didn’t bode particularly well for any developing shows, and so it seems that an adaptation of Nicholas SparksThe Notebook will be left dangling on the Ferris wheel. The CW will hang onto the series for now, redeveloping it for next year.

Per Deadline, The CW intends to redevelop The Notebook for another cycle, discarding the treatment from writer Todd Graff in favor of a new scribe, though Sparks himself will remain aboard as executive producer. Based on Sparks’ 1996 novel and its subsequent 2004 adaptation, which starred Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, so read the official logline:

This series will follow the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie, at the outset of their blossoming relationship as they build their lives and their future together against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina.

It stands to reason that the network would keep this one on the back burner, and you can watch the original trailer below, while The CW writes you new episodes every day for another year.
