With the Holiday season here, do you encourage your child to participate in the Spirit of Giving?  Or, do you not think that is an important lesson to foster in a child's mind?  Since I'm raising 6 kids, I noticed this weekend that half of them are all about giving and half are more focused on the receiving.

It got me to thinking, do I push the non-givers to do something that involves the giving spirit?  I realize kids don't have money or might only have their allowance that they worked hard for.  I don't think a gift needs to cost money.  It can be a poem.  It can be a drawing.  Or, it can be doing a chore around the house that doesn't usually get done.  But, in my heart, I think kids need to participate in some way with some form of giving gesture.

What do you think?  Do I let the giving feeling come naturally or do I give it a little....push?
