You just never know when you might need to use the local food pantry.  If you're lucky, it will be never.  But, you can't predict the future.  Even with a supportive family, circumstances could arise where you would rather resort to using the local food pantry than ask your family for help.  Or maybe, you're right...you'll never need the food pantry, but you never know when you will need some good karma on your side.

Nobody should ever have to experience hunger, especially children.  Unfortunately, there are children all around our communities who are hungry.  Many of them can get meals provided at schools.  But what about summer vacation, when those free meals are no longer available.  Families will resort to using the local food pantries.  This time of year, those pantries are used more but get less and less donations.  The end result, bare shelves and turning people away.

Every year, B98.5 hosts it's Annual "Tanksgiving" Food Drive in November.  It is one of the central Maine's largest food drives.  The generosity that comes from our listeners is truly amazing.  We are reaching out to those listeners as we start "Tanksgiving" earlier than ever before with Hair for the Hungry.  We are raising $2500 for area food pantries.  The best part, Supercuts will match our efforts up to $2500.  When we hit the $5000 goal, Renee Nelson is going to shave her head on May 30th.

We are currently at an online total of $515.  We are way off course for where we need to be and failure is not an option.  $1 turns into 4 meals.  No amount is too big or too small.  You can donate safely online thanks to United Way of Kennebec Valley or stop by Supercuts.
