Getting fired as a coach in sports is nothing new. You have too many bad seasons and you’re gone. The owner or general manager calls you into his office and breaks the bad news. Ralph Kruger of the Edmonton Oilers has to be the first coach fired via Skype.Oliers' GM Craig MacTavish broke the news to Kruger on the online video service, which shocked the coach because had never had a conversation with the GM on Skype.

Kruger has been coaching hockey for 24 years and it’s not the first time he’s been fired, in fact, he knows it’s just another part of the job, it’s the way it happened that has him scratching his head, he said he never saw it coming.
