If you see a lot of emergency vehicles in the area of Dalton Road in Augusta on Saturday (June 11), don't panic, it's just an emergency training exercise being held by the Maine Emergency Management Agency and the Kennebec County Emergency Management Agency.

According to a report on centralmaine.com, the exercise will be training emergency responders to prepare for a train derailment involving chemicals. The story said it would be a full-scale hazmat exercise taking place on Dalton Road at the Cives Steel Co. and NorthCenter Performance Food Service.

In addition to the two emergency management agencies, the Waldo County Emergency Management Agency, Somerset County Emergency Management Agency, Maine Department of Environmental Protection, U.S. Coast Guard, Sappi Paper, Augusta Fire Department, Augusta Police Department, Waterville/Winslow Police Department and the Skowhegan Fire Department will be participating in the exercise, the centralmaine.com story said.
