Erin Ovalle, morning news anchor on WMTW Channel 8, announced on her Facebook page that she will be leaving her position with the television station at the end of November. Here's what she wrote to the viewers on her Facebook page.

'Dear friends,

For the last seven years, I have had the immense privilege of waking up with people across Maine as a morning news anchor. I’m honored to have been included in the morning routines of Mainers getting ready for work and for school each day.

At the end of November this year I am leaving my post as morning news anchor at WMTW Channel 8. While I will miss waking up with our viewers and the Channel 8 team, after seven years full-time on the news in Maine, I am eager to pursue other professional goals that are important to me, in addition to television.

I am enthusiastic for what lies ahead and remain deeply committed to making a positive impact in our community as both an entrepreneur, newswoman and volunteer – but I won’t miss waking up at 2:30 every morning!

My new business, Style Me Portland, a dress boutique and beauty bar, will remain a major focus for me in the coming months. Working more traditional business hours will afford me the opportunity to pursue some other exciting endeavors that leverage my experience in the news business and my passion for Maine people, our business community and the important non-profit organizations doing great work across our state.

I thank my colleagues at WMTW Channel 8 for their friendship and support, my friends – and most of all, our viewers who are at the center of what we do and inspire us every day.
Stay tuned, there’s more to come
With thanks,
Erin'
