A bull that was headed to the butcher shop escaped and led Skowhegan police on an hour-and-a-half chase.

The bull got out of it's trailer and was on the run when police saw it get in the Kennebec river, swim across it and climb the embankment. That is where the bull was fatally shot by police.

The dead animal thehn floated down the river, over the steep falls at the power station and went south.

The bull was shot, according to pressherald.com and Skowhegan Police Chief, because he was being aggressive and heading toward a crowd of about 50 people and there was no choice but to put it down.

Doesn't say if the bull was fished out of the river or if just kept floating south.
