Faith Hill and her middle daughter, Maggie, are traversing the U.S. on their way to drop Maggie off for college, and apparently they don’t mind taking a pit stop if it means saving an animal from potential harm.

Hill has been sharing fun pictures of the road trip on social media, and on Wednesday (Sept. 14) she shared one showing Maggie in the middle of the road, bending over and holding a turtle that had wandered onto the asphalt in Texas. Worried for its safety, Maggie evidently asked her mom to stop the car so she could rescue the little guy.

Other fun peeks into their trip this week have included the pair in front of a Prada store art display in Texas and at a restaurant, where Maggie was eating a burrito the size of her head. Hill even shared a super cute video of them singing along to Taylor Swift’s "Bad Blood" in the car on Day 1 of the adventure, proving that the country singer is definitely a fun mom.

Maggie is the second of Hill and husband Tim McGraw’s daughters to go off to college. Gracie left last year, and McGraw has admitted it was an emotional time for him. The artist shares that recording his recent mega-hit "Humble and Kind" was difficult to get through without fighting back tears, in light of his girls growing up. Of course, McGraw says that he couldn’t be more proud of who they are becoming — although he gives credit to his wife.

“They’re growing up and turning into beautiful, strong, talented, confident young ladies” he says. “If you have three daughters, you couldn’t have a better role model than their mom.”

McGraw often feels nostalgic these days. He recently shared an adorable flashback photo with his little girls, Gracie looking not much older than 8 or 9, with the hashtag #HowIllAlwaysBe, the title of his new single. The song is a sentimental reflection on the past but also a look toward the future, written by Chris Janson, Jamie Paulin and Jeremy Stover.
