A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries after she was hit in the face with a broken bat at Friday night's game at Fenway Park in Boston.

The woman was taken out of Fenway Park on a stretcher and taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The woman was along the third-base line with an unidentified man and her son. The incident happened around 7:40 p.m.

A security guard who saw the incident said the woman suffered serious injuries to her face.

Brett Lawrie of the Oakland A's was at bat, when he hit the ball and snapped his bat in half. Witness say the woman was struck on top of the head and there was a lot of blood.
