According to the KJ, former Cony High School student Shakira Provasoli has been awarded the Presidential Innovation Award!

She was given the award by the United States Environmental Protection Agency for her work in environmental education.  she was one of 18 teachers and 63 students from around the country who received the award at an August 16th ceremony at the White House.

For the last 16 years, Provasoli has been a grade school teacher in New York City, and over the last 5 years, she has developed a curriculum that uses the school's rooftop hydroponics garden.
