The New England Patriots have agreed to terms with free agent and former University of Maine wide receiver Derrick Johnson. Last season, Johnson was tied for the team lead in receptions with 60 for 608 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games.

While at Maine, Johnson recorded 116 catches for 1,185 yards and four touchdowns in 37 career games.

Johnson is the fourth Black Bear to join an NFL team this spring. Cornerback Kendall James was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round while tight end Justin Perillo signes an undrafted rookie free agent deal with the Green Bay Packers. Defensive end Mike Cole was invited to Washington Redskins minicamp.
