Congrats to the Frenette family of Lewiston. They are 1 of 10 Red Ribbon Week national contest winners in the 27th annual contest. The theme was 'The Best Me is Drug Free.'

Ten families across America won an iPad for their home and a $1,000 drug-prevention grant for their local school by decorating their homes with this year's theme, then submitting their photos to redribbon.org. Entries with the most online votes won. The contest prizes are from The National Family Partnership and the DEA.

Mom, Lu Ann Frennette said, "The contest was an easy way for me to help support parents talking to kids about drugs without sounding pushy. Please talk to your kids about drugs. It’s been a nice way to get the message out there without doing it in a depressing way."

Martell Elementary School Principal Stephen Whitfield from the local school that will receive the $1000 grant said, "Drug Prevention is so important because if the students don’t have the information, they are more easily swayed by negative outside influences."

The National Family Partnership was established in 1980, and is a national leader in drug prevention, education and advocacy. It's mission is to lead our nation’s families and communities in nurturing the full potential of healthy, drug-free youth. Red Ribbon Week, now entering its 28th year in 2013, is the nation’s largest and oldest drug prevention campaign, reaching 80 million people every year. NFP created the campaign in response to the 1985 abduction and murder of DEA agent Enrique ‘Kiki’ Camarena.
