We're thrilled about the upcoming drama 'Fruitvale Station,' starring 'Friday Night Lights' vet (and possible Johnny Storm) Michael B. Jordan , and now you can check out the first official trailer for this tragic true story.

'Friday Night Lights' fostered some great talent (most notably Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton), but the one star who impressed the most was Michael B. Jordan, a young actor who also appeared as the ill-fated Wallace on HBO's 'The Wire.' And now to answer the epic question of "Where's Wallace?!" comes the first trailer for 'Fruitvale Station.' By the looks of it, things aren't much sunnier for Jordan on this side of the tracks.

'Fruitvale Station' is based on the true story of 22-year-old Oscar, a young man who gets mixed up in a fight on a BART train in Oakland, California in the wee hours of the morning on New Year's Day. What happened next was a horrific tragedy, captured on cellphone cameras of fellow passengers at the train station that evening. Those recordings captured a shocking and disturbing act of police brutality -- and one you likely remember from the headlines in early 2009.

The first trailer for 'Fruitvale Station' introduces us to a film that seeks to capture this tragic day in Oscar's life -- the life of a troubled young man who, like most of us, is just trying to get by and do the best he could. The trailer highlights sweet moments between Oscar and his family, and hints at a wonderfully engaging and touching performance from Jordan.

'Fruitvale Station' was a hit at Sundance earlier this year, co-starring Octavia Spencer, Melonie Diaz, and Kevin Durand -- and you can catch it when it hits theaters on July 12. If the Sundance buzz is any indication, there could be Oscar nominations in the film's future.
