Every Friday, the Morning Buzz will share a local animal in Central Maine...looking to adopt a human.  It's hard to find the perfect human when you are stuck in a shelter.  Why buy or breed when you can adopt and change a life!

This week's #FurBaby Friday candidate is Jackson!  He is located at Charley's Strays in Clinton.  Here is what they have to say about Jackson:

Jackson is such a handsome boy, weighing in at about 55 pounds. All of the good things about Jackson are that he is crate trained, and gets along with dogs and people. Jackson likes cats a little too much to live with them, but he is a dog after all.
Jackson is so lovable, you will want to spoil him. That, however, is not something you should do. Jackson is very smart and likes to take over and run the people in his house, and he is a guarder of what he considers high value items. As a result of this guarding behavior, he is not a good match for a household with children.

So, Jackson actually needs to live in a place that will not spoil him -- no high value toys or treats (for example, no marrow bones, ever, in the house or outside), no dog bed and, as we say in dog speak, nothing in life for free. If you set the ground rules from day one and stick with them, Jackson will be a great friend.
Jackson has been through training and knows many commands including: "Leave it", "Heal", "Sit", "Wait" and "Come".
This is what Jackson's trainer sent in about him: "Jackson is good with calm dogs, and seems to prefer female dogs best. Busy body dogs make him a bit nervous. Owing to his territorial tendencies, he is not allowed on any furniture: however, when he did get up, he was lured off with a goody and he happily complied. He is overly interested in the cats so it would take a dog savvy cat to be with him as he is a bit pushy. He loves the outdoors, is medium energy level, and has learned to come, sit, down and shake for his meals. He is a good watch dog and will alert bark, but will not hold his ground- he backs off when strangers enter."
Jackson doesn't ask for much, so it makes you want to give him more, but don't give in. Jackson just needs someone that will give him tough love (not physical tough, but controlling his environment tough). Maybe Jackson is for you...write for more details.

If you adopt Jackson, make sure you let us know!  We want to share a follow-up story!
