Doug Morris, the CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, announced that the label had signed a new deal with Brooks. "He is the only solo artist to have six albums sell more than 10 million copies, Morris said. "He has had 25 No. 1 country records."

Brooks will be recording on the RCA Nashville label for Sony.

Brooks said that new music will be forthcoming, though he did not give a date for the album. "I can't tell you when, because truthfully we don't know," he said.

Brooks also said that for the first time ever, he will allow digital sales of his music. "We've never allowed our stuff to go digital, that will begin in the next 2-3 weeks," he added, saying that all digital sales will be handled through his website at GarthBrooks.com.  "It's a cool form," he said.

He said that an opening city for the world tour will be made later this month.
