Gas prices are steadily risen all year, we started the year with an average statewide price of $2.35 per gallon, this week the average gas price in Maine is at $2.70 per gallon. Nationwide the increase has been even greater. In January the average price at $2.19 per gallon and are now at $2.74 per gallon.

However, there is good news concerning gas prices. Tom Kloza, a chief oil analyst for the Oil Price Information Service, which tracks prices for AAA and GasBuddy.com, says that prices are peaking for the year right now.

Kloza says it looks like gas supplies are building and prices should be dropping to near $2.50 a gallon by July or August and could go as low at $2 a gallon after Labor Day.
