For the second week in a row, Maine gas prices went up slightly, while the national average gas price dropped. According to the price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com, gas prices in Maine were up around one cent a gallon, for an average of $3.49 a gallon.Nationally, the average gas prices dropped 2.4 cents a gallon to $3.21.

A gallon of gas in Maine is up by almost 11 cents a gallon from a month ago.

The lowest price for a gallon of gas in Maine was found in Bangor at $3.33.

Eight states in the country have an average of less than $3 for a gallon of gas, with Oklahoma having the lowest average gas price of $2.85 a gallon.

Only seven states have a higher average gas price than Maine.

GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan expects gasoline prices to drop over the next few weeks, adding that gasoline prices historically hit their yearly lows this time of year.
