After a few weeks of gas prices going down, there is a slight increase this week in the price of a gallon of gas; both in Maine and nationally.

According to the price monitoring site Gas Buddy, the average price for a gallon of gas in Maine this week is $2.325, which is up a penny from last weeks statewide average of $2.315.

Nationally, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.356, which is up a couple of cents from last weeks average of $2.33.

We searched locally for the lowest gas prices in Central Maine.

In Augusta, the lowest places we could find for a gallon of gas were at the C & S Market on Riverside Drive, and the Irving Station at 284 Civic Center Drive. Both reported gasoline at $2.23 a gallon which is nearly a dime cheaper than the statewide average.

In Waterville, the cheapest places we could find to buy gas were at the CITGO Station 364 Main St/Waterville Commons Dr which is selling gas at $2.29 a gallon and J & S Oil at 320 Kennedy Memorial Drive which is selling gas at $2.31 a gallon.
