Great Pond in Belgrade is getting a new addition this week. A $20,000 buoy armed with sensors will be deployed this Thursday in Great Pond. This buoy will be able to follow the pond's conditions around the clock. It's all part of a worldwide network of bodies of water that can be monitored around the clock by sending a continuous data stream describing real-time pond conditions to a global network of scientists.

The buoy will be deployed on Thursday at the deepest part of Great Pond and will monitor temperature, oxygen levels, phytoplankton activity and light levels every 15 minutes.
