The Boston Bruins evened their preseason record to 2-2 after Dougie Hamilton helped the Bruins to a 3-1 win over Detroit.Hamilton got the Bruins on the board to break the scoreless tie 3:28 into the second period on an unassisted goal. He later set up the eventual game winner Ville Leino late in the third period before Brad Marchand added an empty netter.

Tuukka Rask and Jeremy Smith split time on goal combining to stop 22 shots. Former Maine Black Bear Jimmy Howard had the night off for the Wings.

Boston will play its 5th and final preseason game Tuesday when another former Black Bear, Jack Capuano brings his New York Islanders to the Garden. The Bruins play their season opener on Wednesday October 8th against the Philadelphia Flyers.
