With snow, sleet and freezing rain becoming more common place as winter settles into Maine, some good news, heating oil prices are dropping.

The average statewide cash price for heating oil in Maine is now at $2.99 per gallon, that is 4 cents lower than last week, according to the Governor's Energy Office. These are the lowest heating oil prices in Maine since 2008.

The average price for kerosene also dropped 3 cents per gallon this past week.

Energy officials are expecting prices to continue to fall!

However, Mainers will be paying sharply higher electric bills starting in March.
