Heartbreaking news out of the CDC this weekend. NO KISSING OR SNUGGLING HEDGEHOGS! According to the BDN, while the animals have gotten significantly more popular as pets in recent years, they may be carrying salmonella germs and passing them to their human owners.

According to the CDC, there have been 11 people in 8 states reporting a strain of Salmonella and all but one of them have been in contact with a hedgehog.

The CDC isn't advising to get rid of your little prickly buddies, but it may be wise to keep them away from your face and mouth and keep them away from where your food is stored and prepped.
