Managers of Elvis Presley‘s storied Graceland home in Memphis, Tenn., have announced a $45 million expansion project, the largest and most significant expansion since the property opened to the public in 1982. Dubbed “Elvis: Past, Present & Future,” the new, 200,000-square-foot entertainment complex is set to open in the spring of 2017. The expansion will serve as a visitor’s center — five times the size of the current visitor’s center, and will feature two restaurants, an exhibit of Presley’s cars, the “Elvis: the Entertainer” museum, retail spaces and more. Total pricetag for improvements to $137 million.
Nine years ago today, on Aug. 14, 2007, Luke Bryan‘s debut album, I’ll Stay Me, was released on Capitol Records. After working in a grocery store and on his family’s farm, Bryan moved to Nashville and began working on his career. By the time the album was released, Bryan had already found success as a songwriter, having co-written Billy Currington‘s “Good Directions,” which shot straight to the top of the charts in 2006.
Kane Brown‘s younger sister is doing well after being stabbed during a fight in late July. The singer offered an update on his sibling’s condition in a recent interview. “I know she’s getting better now; she’s recovering, she’s texting me.” “I do know they arrested the girl; I don’t know where they found her, but I know that she’s arrested, and my sister’s doing better.” Brown’s sister, 19-year-old Heidi Swafford, was fighting with another woman on the afternoon of July 26 in Chattanooga, Tenn., when she was stabbed multiple times in the neck and shoulder.
