The organization has since released a statement denying such claims and praising Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks for their stellar performance. Backstage Dolly shared what the award means to her and how it feels to know she’s had such an impact on country music artists and the genre at large. She said it is an honor, and it makes her feel good to feel like she’s done something to further this business. Dolly also said she hopes they don’t think because they gave me a Lifetime Achievement Award, she’ll be done.

Nike drafted a classic tune from Willie Nelson for a commercial celebrating the Chicago Cubs’ historic World Series win on Wednesday. The Cubs beats the Cleveland Indians in Game 7 of the 2016 World Series on Wednesday night, in a thrilling 10-inning game that saw them finally edge past the Indians 8-7 breaking their 108 year old World Series drought. Nike celebrated the historic victory with a new commercial that aired right after the final out of the game. The spot uses the classic Nelson tune “Funny How Time Slips Away” to accompany images of a young boy dressed in a Cubs uniform practicing baseball at a local sandlot nurturing his own dreams of baseball greatness one day.
