Not sure if this is the most lopsided victory in high school basketball but it has to be one of them. It is the second most in this area of California as Arroyo Valley’s girls’ basketball team beat Bloomington by a score of 161-2. That doesn’t even seem possible but it happened.

Arroyo (14-1) has won games this season by 73, 81, 74 and 98 points and Bloomington has lost a game this season by 91 points. The half time score was 104-1. Coach Michael Anderson said his team didn’t mean to embarrass anyone, the game just got away from him. He may face disciplinary action for the game though and said if he had to do it all over again he never would have scheduled the game in the first place.

Arroyo’s coach played all bench players in the second half and instructed his team not to shoot until 7 seconds left on the clock. The bench unexpectedly made eight of nine three point shots.

In 1982, Riverside Poly beat Riverside Notre Vista in California 179-15 as all-time great women’s basketball player Cheryl Miller score 105 points in the game.

In 1964, Grand Avenue High beat Audrey Memorial High, both in New York, in boys basketball, 211-29.
