As a homeowner who bought her house a few weeks before the real estate market collapsed in 2008, this makes me very happy. Sales of existing single-family homes in Maine were up 23.6 % in November. Maine’s numbers were over the national! Home buyers were taking advantage of low interest rates and a large inventory of homes on the market.

October was a good month too, with an increase of 24.5%.  On a year-to-date basis, sales across the state have risen 16 % and prices have increased 2.4 %, nationally, sales are up 12.4 %, and the national median sale price rose 10.1 % last month!

Real Estate Agents and homeowners are getting better about doing the extra things making repairs and upgrades before a house goes on the market and staging the house, making sure it has been decorated and de-cluttered and looks its very best.  Some well-maintained homes with the correct pricing are also seeing some multiple offers.
