One of our very own is headed a little south to compete to become the Star of the Day! Community Auditions, a television show that tapes its episodes at the Hard Rock Cafe at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, has selected Chad Hood of Clinton for its next competition.

Hood, founder and lead singer of modern country band, Cold Blue Steel, will be taping the show on September 30. He sent in his application to be on the show 6 months ago and in a surprise email was selected. "Everything was moving so fast! They needed all the material in one day. If you don't send it on time, you lose your spot."

Hood grew up in Turner and is a 1997 graduate of Leavitt Area High School where he played varsity basketball. A successful DJ for years, he decided just 3 years ago to start a band of his own. He met Rick Turcotte and the two worked together well musically and turned into great friends. They added lead guitarist Jason Brooker and, just recently, Paul Martin and Jason Guimond on bass and drums, respectively.

Chad has two dreams he would like to fulfill and the first dream came true this past Summer. Ever since he was a young boy he and his family had been visiting the Monmouth Fair. He had always dreamed of being on that stage and performing. On August 3rd, while setting up their equipment, it started to downpour. It looked like they wouldn't play but 20 minutes later it stopped and Cold Blue Steel took the stage. His family, including his parents, children, brother, grandmother, aunts, uncles and friends came out and supported him along with the band's many fans.  Toward the end of the show he went out into the crowd and shook hands and hugged each one of them thanking them for being there on his big night.

One dream down, one to go...His next dream is to open for a national act. With the band's following becoming bigger each show, they are certain to reach the goal! But, first things first. In just a week he will travel to Connecticut to qualify for the finals where the winner will win a chance to record an album. There will be 2 shows taped that day. If he wins the first, he will compete in the second show as well.
