The inaugural two episodes of 'How I Met Your Mother' season 9 didn't give us as much insight into the final season format as we might have liked, though next Monday's "Last Time In New York" will likely feel a bit more familiar. As the 'HIMYM' gang nestles in for Barney and Robin's impending nuptials, "The Walking Old" puts everyone on edge, even leading to a shot at 'Homeland''s Mandy Patinkin in the latest preview!

It remains to be seen if "Last Time in New York" will keep up its zombie-movie parody the whole way through, but we know that Robin and Barney will struggle to find time to themselves, while Lily grows incensed at Ted for harboring his secret. The title of the episode also calls back to season 2 episode "First Time in New York," keeping alive the victory lap theme for the season

From CBS' official press description of Monday's "Last Time in New York":

LILY DISCOVERS A LIST TED MADE ABOUT THINGS HE WANTS TO DO BEFORE HE LEAVES NEW YORK, AND ROBIN AND BARNEY TRY TO FIND PRIVATE TIME TOGETHER BEFORE THEIR RELATIVES ARRIVE

"Last Time in New York" — When Lily discovers Ted’s list of things he wants to do in New York before he moves for Chicago, she becomes frustrated that she is the only person who knows about his plans. Meanwhile, Robin and Barney realize they have very little time together before their relatives arrive for their wedding.

Elsewhere, the final season of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ has recruited such guest stars as returning ‘Karate Kid’ star William Zabka and 'Breaking Bad''s Bryan Cranston, ‘True Blood‘ star Anna Camp (replacing ‘The Office”s Ellie Kemper), Sherri Shepherd, ‘Revenge‘ star Roger Bart, and Wayne Brady and John Lithgow reprising their roles as Barney’s half-brother James and biological father Jerry.

Check out 'How I Met Your Mother''s shots at both 'The Walking Dead' and Mandy Patinkin with the latest "Last Time in New York" preview above, and tell us what you thought of the two-part premiere in the comments!
