I go through spurts of reading. Admittedly, I tend to be a bandwagon reader. If a super hyped movie based off a book is going to come out, I'll tend to pick up the book and completely binge. I did this with Twilight in my teen years, The Hunger Games, Room, and most recently, The Girl On The Train.

I always enjoy reading while I'm reading, but I tend to look at picking up a new book as this big commitment, then I see everything else I have going on and get overwhelmed. I always struggle to spend money on books too, especially fiction.

I'll put a book in my purse with the thought that if I have downtime, it will be available to flip through. Then my purse gets too full and, unless I got into the book, out it goes.

I used to have a small tablet. I downloaded the Kindle app and gave it the ol' college try. I hated it. The glare, not having real pages, the lighting of the screen was annoying to stare at for prolonged periods. I swore I'd stick with real books.

Then I watched You on Netflix and binged the entire 10 episode season in one night. I realized the show was based on a book with the same name. And there was a sequel, Hidden Bodies! I had to read it before season 2. I had to know what happened next.

Admittedly, I haven't read a book cover to cover in a year and I considered my options as Amazon kept dangling their Kindle Paperwhite in front of me. I liked the fact that it was a no-glare screen, small, and waterproof. My mind could not help but go to the beach in the summertime. There I was, in the sand, with ocean air, and a good digital book. Not gonna lie, I didn't hate that thought. The $130 price tag was a bit daunting, then, for one day only, they dropped the price to $90 or 5 payments of $18. "OK FINE, AMAZON! YOU GOT ME!" I thought as I put it in my cart and clicked two-day shipping.

I am SO HAPPY I did. Kindle book prices are often cheaper and because of the magic of digital transactions, I don't talk myself out of purchases as easily. (This may or may not be a good thing!) I read the first 10 chapters of Hidden Bodies the day it arrived. It takes up minimal room in my purse, and with the cover I bought, it's super cute! I didn't miss real pages and the lighting didn't bother me whatsoever. I'll still probably buy non-fiction, informational books in physical form so I can reference and highlight the old school way, but largely condensing to digital is certainly something that would make Marie Kondo happy!

What do you think of digital books? Have you ever purchased something you swore you never would, and loved it?!
