I have been lucky enough to see some great concerts in my lifetime. My favorite artist, Billy Joel, I have seen 5 times and loved each and every minute. I've been able to see The Eagles, Tammy Wynette, Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, Alabama, Tanya Tucker, Willie Nelson, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, Phil Vassar, Tracy Lawrence, Jamie O'Neal, Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Andy Griggs, Pam Tillis, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert...the list goes on!

But I haven't seen HIM yet! And I'm running out of time!

George Strait. King George. The man in the Wrangler jeans. The Fireman...Out of all the people I have seen my only regret is not being able to see George Strait.

Yes, he is coming in concert in Connecticut February 23, 2013, which is as close as he will get to Maine. But I'm broke. I have talked to so many people that have seen him and they have said "You can go see any other country artist but if you haven't seen George Strait, well, then you haven't seen a real country superstar."

I remember hearing "Marina Del Rey" and crying. Listening to "Amarillo by Morning" and picturing a lone cowboy leading his horse out of the sunrise. Hearing a young George singing "Unwound", a song written by a man whose songs he would record a lot of, Dean Dillon.

Is there any other country star like him? He puts out the albums, has small tours near his Texas homestead, doesn't talk to the media much, never gets in any trouble, has a stable marriage and a happy life. He has been at it since 1981 and has won many awards and has racked up 59 number one singles....so far...

He may retire from touring but I hope he never retires from making music. I've loved his music since I was 7. He will always be the "King" in my eyes!
