‘It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ Airs October 15 on ABC

Omg Omg Omg! Tonight is the night! The Great Pumpkin is coming!

Well, kind of. Tonight (October 15) is the night that ABC will be airing the holiday classic “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”. Here in Maine, you can catch it on WMTW-Channel 8.

The annual Peanuts special will air ABC at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, following “Toy Story of TERROR!”, which airs at 8:00 p.m.

Premiering in 1966, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” has become a holiday staple since it was first broadcast on CBS almost 50 years ago.

The half hour special follows the Peanuts gang as they celebrate Halloween.

Linus and Sally spend the evening waiting in the pumpkin patch for the Great Pumpkin to appear, while Charlie Brown, Lucy, Pig-Pen, Violet, Frieda, Schroeder, Sally and Peppermint Patty go trick or treating and attend a Halloween Party. (“I got a rock.”)

All through the episode, Snoopy (as the World War I Flying Ace) fights an imaginary battle with the Red Baron.

The special has aired on ABC since 2001.
