Jason Aldean Brings Dose of Country to Boston Strong Concert for Marathon Bombing Victims

Jason Aldean brought a dollop country music and a whole lotta heart to Thursday night’s (May 30) Boston Strong benefit concert, held at TD Garden for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, which took place last month.

“It’s a huge honor for me to be here with everybody else that is here tonight,” Aldean, a Georgia boy, told the crowd in his thick southern drawl. “You guys probably know this already, I’m not from Boston, but I’m a huge Red Sox fan if that makes any difference to you guys.”

That statement was met with a huge round of cheers. It’s always smart to pull the sports card to get the crowd on your side, even at a benefit gig, since it fosters the sense of community among the audience. And if anyone is passionate about their pro sports teams, it’s Bostonians!

“I’ll be seeing some of you guys hopefully at Fenway Park this summer,” the ’1994′ singer continued. With two gigs at the famed baseball park, it’s clear that Beantown loves Jason Aldean. He’s like an adopted son at this point.

The singer then invited the crowd to sing along as he launched into ‘Dirt Road Anthem.’

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the One Fund, which was established to provide aid and support to survivors and families of victims.
