When you pound the pavement looking for a job, this probably isn't what you had in mind.

Candidates for a job at an electronics store in Britain were surprised to find part of the job application process required them to compete in a dance contest.

Alan Bacon, 21, was one of the people who was ordered to bust a move while applying for the job at Currys:

I think everyone initially thought it was a joke, but they were serious. I just felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable. I ended up dancing to ‘Around the World’ by Daft Punk, doing rubbish robotics in my suit in front of a group of strangers. I told my dad it was like a scene out of ‘The Office.’ I would have walked out but I need a job."

Bacon said he had been told he would be given five minutes to discuss his hobbies, so you can imagine his surprise when he discovered that instead he found himself in some sort of vocational version of ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’

Unfortunately for Bacon, his footwork wasn’t good enough and he was turned down. However, Currys got wind of what happened and reiterated the dancing was not a sanctioned part of the hiring process. It has asked everyone who was rejected to come back for another, more traditional interview. Bacon, though, plans to look for work someplace else.
