July is Hot Dog month and July16th is Hot Dog Day. Here are some things you may or may not know about hot dogs. They are considered the all-America treat but were invented in Germany in the 1400’s, thus the name frankfurters.

The most popular topping for hot dogs is mustard for adults and ketchup for kids. Some other toppings put on dot dogs include cottage cheese, shrimp, pineapples and coconut.

7-Eleven sells the most hot dogs every year at 100 million.

Dodger Stadium in L.A. sells the most hot dogs per year at a ball park.

Hot dogs were the first food eaten on the moon. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin ate hot dogs  in 1969.
