Kelsea Ballerini and Danish rock band Lukas Graham performed a unique mashup of songs at the 2017 Grammy Awards. The latter performed a slower take on their massive hit "7 Years," while Ballerini -- who was wearing her hair in a high ponytail and dressed in an outfit with a muitcolored circular pattern -- tackled her No. 1 ballad "Peter Pan."

Instead of doing straightforward performances, however, Ballerini and Lukas Graham alternated lyrics. This new, combined arrangement was successful, and illuminated the nuances of each song; it helped that the musicians were huddled together on a small circular stage, apart from the main stage, that was tastefully lit up with a ring of lights and clouded with generous amounts of manufactured smoke.

As the mashup progressed, the two tunes overlapped even more, although both Ballerini and Lukas Graham handled the overlap with ease. Ballerini ended the song with her head against singer Lukas Forchhammer's head, as they sang the combined tune's final line, "Once I was seven years old," in unison. As the song ended, she grinned, deservedly pleased with how the performance went.
