Kenny Chesney captures the serenity of the Caribbean Islands on "Pirate Song," and makes the listener feel like they're right there with him.

The song serves as an ode to the people and spirit of his beloved Virgin Islands, which he's actively been helping to recuperate since Hurricane Irma ravaged the area in September of 2017.

"I wish I was a pirate on some ghost ship in the night / With nothing but the stars, the moon and faith to be my guide / Steady as she goes with my back to the wind / Then in a cloud of cannon smoke I'd disappear again," he sings gently over a simple guitar melody, whisking the listener off on a peaceful adventure.

"'Pirate Song’ emerged as a love song to everything the islands have always been: freedom, time slowing down, being calm and at sea," Chesney reflects in a press release. "Even when my friends and people I knew were coming through my house after the storms came through, I knew the essence of what those islands are couldn’t be extinguished inside them.”

"Get Along" Comes From a Real Place

"Pirate Song" is featured on his upcoming album Songs for the Saintswhich pays homage to his island sanctuary. He's using the project to raise funds for his Love For Love City Foundation, with all of the album's proceeds going toward the relief fund that sends resources to those in need. Chesney's foundation also partners with local charities and national companies to help repair the islands.

"Pirate Song" is available now. Jimmy Buffett, Ziggy Marley and Mindy Smith make guest appearances on Songs for the Saints, which is set for release on July 27. Chesney continues to perform at stadiums on his 2018 Trip Around the Sun Tour with Thomas Rhett, Old Dominion and Brandon Lay.
