‘Girls’ Creator Lena Dunham Developing New HBO Fashion Comedy

HBO's breakout comedy 'Girls' will certainly keep creator, writer, director and star Lena Dunham busy for the foreseeable future, between a season 3 renewal and and even longer writing contract with HBO, but that hasn't stopped the Golden Globe-winning star from taking on additional projects. New reports claim Dunham and her 'Girls' co-runner Jenni Konner have begun work on yet another HBO comedy series to chronicle famed personal shopper Betty Halbreich, but could 'All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go' reach the same heights as 'Girls?'

A third season renewal and further ratings success have done little to silence the debate surrounding Lena Dunham's HBO comedy 'Girls,' but now fans and critics alike may have a new project to debate. Deadline says Dunham and 'Girls' executive producer / co-showrunner Jenni Konner have begun work drafting the pilot of a new HBO series, based on the life of Bergdorf Goodman personal shopper Betty Halbreich.

The new series would derive from Halbreich's forthcoming memoir 'All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go,' which chronicles the storied Manhattan department store known for dressing the rich and famous since the 1970s. Such bodies of work in Halbreich's career include Joan Rivers, Meryl Streep, Sarah Jessica Parker, Katie Couric and Glenn Close.

Konner and Dunham remain committed to 'Girls,' so it remains to be seen how much involvement the pair would have in the new series going forward. Tell us if you'll watch Lena Dunham's next series in the comments!
