Gov. Paul LePage is being asked to apologize for saying that a high school student repeatedly overdosed and went to class after being revived with the drug naloxone a third time.
According to the Bangor Daily News, LePage told the story while speaking against a bill to allow access to overdose drug without a prescription. Deering High School leaders deny the story. The governor's office said he may ask the US Attorney to investigate if schools are reporting overdoses.

In the story in the Bangor Daily News, the Portland police chief does remember the governor having a conversation about drugs with the Deering High School resources officer telling the governor a story about an incident in Deering Oaks park in Portland, NOT Deering High School.
