The license plate that was attached to the limousine that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in just sold at auction for $100,000. The plate was expected to go for $40,000.

Heritage Auction in Dallas, Texas, auctioned off the JFK memorabilia from owner, 72 year old Jane Walker. She had been keeping them in her ‘junk drawer’ for years. She received them from her father who refurbished the limousine after the assassination.

It’s been 52 years since the assassination but no one, outside of Walker’s close friends, knew she was the owner of them. The plates are the yellow District of Columbia with GG-330 in black lettering.

The buyer was present at the auction, but wishes to remain anonymous and it is not clear if the plates will remain in the Dallas area.
