LL Bean Has 3.5 Million Visitors a Year
LL Bean in Freeport was founded in 1912 and today has annual sales of $1.56 billion. Unlike most businesses, LL Bean employees more people in the winter than the summer.
Year round there are over 5,000 employees but during the winter holiday season they have over 9,000 employees. In July of 2000 it opened its first store outside of Maine in, McLean, Virginia and now has 19 stores outside the state. On average the Maine store entertains 3.5 million people a year.
In all, LL Bean stores entertain about 11 million people a year and on ‘Cyber Monday’ 2013, their web site saw over 1.4 million visitors which was a new single day web visits record. In 2009, internet orders surpassed catalog orders for the first time.
