If I told you that you could buy salsa made in Maine you’d probably think I was talking out of my sombrero. Well, hold onto your hat…you can! Made in Maine Galaxie Salsa Company will be at the Made in Maine Expo at the Colby College Field House tomorrow, Aug. 10.From Buxton, they make zucchini Galaxie Salsa sold at fairs, car shows, expos (like ours) and in local stores. The name Galaxie didn’t come from outer space. It came from a 1963 Ford Galaxie that they took to car shows and sold salsa out of the trunk. Things have come a long way since and there are stores all over Maine that sell Galaxie Salsa (see a complete list on their website at bottom of page).

They manufacture different types of Salsa: like the ‘Real Classic’ that has a sweet kick.  If something a little hotter is your preference, try ‘Red Roof Hot’, maybe as hot as the stuff they make in Texas. And then there’s ‘Sweet Ride’ for those that like their Salsa mild. Taste samples Saturday at the Made in Maine Expo between 9 and 4.
