Members from the 126th Aviation Medevac Unit of the Maine Army National Guard will be returning to Maine this afternoon after a year-long deployment to Kuwait. The 126th landed at Fort Hood in Texas on Wednesday and will be back in Bangor this afternoon.120 members of the 'Black Bears' were debriefed at Fort Hood before returning to Bangor. The 126th specialized in flying Black Hawk helicopters and airlifted wounded soldiers, military dogs and civilians while in Kuwait.

One member of the 126th, Staff Sgt. Jessica Wing from Glenburn,  died last summer in a non-combat related incident. The cause of her death has not been released.
