Maine Brewer Makes Beer Out Of Live Lobsters And Sea Salt
Oxbow Brewing of Maine has come up with a way to enjoy two of Maine's summertime staples at the same time: beer and lobster.
Tim Adams, of Oxbow Brewing, says that the lobsters are placed in a mesh bag and suspended in a kettle full of boiling wort during the brewing process. That gives the beer a subtle brininess and sweetness.
The lobsters that are used to brew the beer are eaten later.
The beer is available only on a limited basis and is served in the brewery's tasting room.
