David Carlson, like many of us, was saddened by Monday's events in Boston. Then he asked himself, what can I do to help? David came up with a unique, yet brilliant idea. Carlson posted on beeradvocate.com, a website for beer enthusiasts, 'Let's start healing by dealing free beer'.Carlson is the owner of Marshall Wharf Brewing Company in Belfast. Carlson tells the Bangor Daily News, that he'd be driving his brewery's entire inventory of 16-ounce cans down to Boston, and challenged all New England breweries 'to throw down.'

The response has been great. The Tavern in Framingham, Mass. will be hosting this fundraising event this afternoon. Everything that is sold or bought is going toward a relief fund.

Several Maine beer makers have joined in including, Oxbow Brewing Co. of Newcastle, Shipyard Brewing Co. in Portland, Allagash Brewing Co. in Portland, Maine Beer Co. of Freeport and Atlantic Brewing Co. of Bar Harbor.

So raise a glass and support the victims in Boston.
